An affinity with nature and all elements of the sea
Since a young child I have always sketched and painted. After completing a Social Science degree and a career in the NHS I retired early to do a Fine Art Degree at Winchester School of Art (Southampton University). I also studied life-drawing in Paris. I have had many exhibitions and my work is in several private collections. I open my studio and have participated in collaborative shows for ‘Open Studios West Berkshire and North Hants’, specifically ‘Insight’ at Greenham, City Arts and Newbury Collective. I have also exhibited in London and venues in the South of England.
Using acrylic, collage and mixed media on canvas and paper, I want to communicate the power and wonder of nature as a source of connections between humans and the world we live in. Travelling the coast and inland waterways my work is inspired by stormy, moody seas, dramatic landscapes and aspects of the natural world. These images are sometimes a transition from realism through to abstract impressionism combining my poetry, memory, sketches and photographs, all contributing to an eclectic style.
